What, a Scottish golf tournament with players in kilts in Hawaii???
Yes, the Saint Andrew Society of Hawaii and the Friends of Saint Patrick are holding their annual Blue Shamrock Kilted Golf Classic Tournament at Pearl Country Club on Sunday, March 29th 2015. This year the hole-in-one Grand Prize is an all-travel-paid trip to Scotland for two players with their spouses for a week, playing at four of its most distinguished courses. Many other prizes for best players and for best efforts will be awarded. The tournament is preceded by some traditional bag-piping, and players are encouraged to dress for the occasion in kilts or plaids. Loaner kilts will be available.
The tournament will start at 11:25, with tee-time registration at 10:00 am and a putting contest and other pre-tournament activities will precede the start. Scoring will use the Double Peoria format with 6 undisclosed holes setting each player’s nominal handicap. The $170 entry fee includes green fees, mulligans, par three contests, closest to pins, longest drive, tournament shirt, cart, gift bag, continental breakfast, lunch, cocktails, a silent auction and awards dinner. This year the net proceeds of the tournament will be donated to Celtic Groups in Hawaii to further Celtic cultural and educational purposes.
